- AdeptFile: The file lister for AdeptXBBS that looks professional in stark
- contrast with Adept's messy and unpolished internal lister.
-
- Release : 00.50 (middle alpha) |
- Updated : 04/22/96 |
- Changed lines are marked with a ------------------> |
- Deleted lines are marked with a ------------------> D

- =============================================================================
- The Scoop: AdeptFile is more or less inspired by Wildcat 4.0's internal file
- lister except mine is a WHOLE LOT better <g> Mine supports better
- tagging, shows more files on the screen, looks better, and allows
- for files with up to 32 characters (the largest that Adept's
- file system allows anyway.)
-
- PLEASE SEE ADEPTFILE.HISTORY FOR A LIST OF CHANGES!
-
- ADEPTFILE .50 >>>MUST<<< BE RUN ON ADEPTXBBS 1.07<<E>> OR LATER! |
- (Not tested with 'f', but it should work fine) |
-
- Here's what doesn't work:
-
- - The download counter doesn't work. Adept doesn't seem to
- update it when a user downloads a file.
- - [D]eleting a file and the [S]ysop functions are still
- inactive. I just haven't been able to get Adept to delete a
- file from the filebase yet. Maybe in 1.07e or f.
- - There's a display bug when jumping between file areas (see
- AdeptFile.History!) (Didn't fix it in .41 -- maybe .60. It's |
- a harmless little bug)
-
- =============================================================================
- Big BBSes: AdeptFile .50 works alot better with large systems than previous |
- versions did. ALOT. It's still a bit pokey when loading in |
- large file areas, so you may want to pass up until I can find |
- a faster undocumented API to load in the filebase (it's either |
- that or ditch all the security features, which is unacceptable) |
- Please note that you can abort any scan with CTRL-X if you get |
- stuck in a bind! |
- D
- =============================================================================
- Future : - The sysop functions that Adept sorely lacks.
- - Make the [I]nfo screen fully functional. (almost done!)
- - Maybe even expand into a full fledged file manager? Right
- now AdeptFile is only good for listing the files in all
- filebase. I'm thinking about letting it do searches, scans,
- new file matches, etc, etc, etc. Now that I've taken the
- hour to figure out Adept's file system, most of it should be
- pretty simple (since I've written up my own subs to do the
- dirty work and keep be away from the aFsys_() stuff.
- - Faster load times! (almost there!) |
-
- =============================================================================
- Install : It's easy. Just unzip the bloody thing anywhere you want and call
- it from your file menu. AdeptFile could care less where it
- resides. Here's an example menu entry:
-
- L ,10 ,\r\n[L]ist Files (Current Area),e:\adeptfile\AdeptFile.Erx
-
- That's all that you have to do!
-
- =============================================================================
- Author : You know Matt Davis. He's the guy that writes all these great
- free utilities for Adept that no one ever gives him feedback on.
- You've probably run his voting door, CBV, data files, and maybe
- even seen his 3D Adventure Door for Adept called EAMON. He has
- also written a hoard of other things, but he didn't receive any
- feedback so he's long since forgotten about them. Maybe if you
- tell him what you think about AdeptFile he won't forget about it!
